1 Corinthians 13:4-5 "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged."
Last day of February! I think this verse is kind of perfect for the last day of February, don't you think?  Talking about love and what it is and isn't.
I am a hopeless romantic. I love LOVE. I'm huge on love and romantic stuff and all of that. I think love is beautiful and the way God made it is beautiful.  Man and woman, loving each other with everything they've got.
Or even if it's not romantic, because I love a lot of people. With a strong love. I love my parents. I love my friends and I couldn't live without them, but that's not romantic.  Love has so many different meanings. And these verses in 1 Corinthians really breaks down what love is.
Patient and kind, not jealous or boastful or proud or rude...
Love is giving up some of yours…

1 Corinthians 15:58"So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless."
Always work ENTHUSIASTICALLY for the Lord.
Nothing you do for the Lord is ever USELESS.
I love this verse! And I don't think I've seen it before, so it's new! And that to me is God showing me things new everyday.
How was your day? Mine was mediocre... It was Monday.
First day back from a week-long break, and I'm finding it difficult to be strong and immovable. I also have lots of trouble doing things enthusiastically. It's hard to have energy and fire for every day. It's hard to be strong when rocks and walls are falling around us.
But be encouraged, and do everything for the Lord.
Wake up for Him, and put on your spiritual armor for Him.
Go to school and work for Him, and do some good.

John 16:33 "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."
There seems to be a major misconception about Christians. People seem to think that we have it all together, and for us, life is perfect. Everything is easy and we are on top. Better than everyone else.
No one ever said life was meant to be easy. God tells us that we WILL have trials. We're going to have hard times, times when we think we can't do anything. Times we feel completely helpless and alone and vulnerable. Weak.
But God tells us that  He has overcome the world.
So, the thing we need to remember and hold in our hearts, is that He is there.  He has already won the war. So although we go through many battles in this life, have peace in Him.
Take heart. Reach out to Him when you are weak.
He has beaten the devil. He has WON.
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, forever.

John 3:30 "He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less."

HE > I
How long is it going to take us to realize that God is a lot
than all of us.  He created Heaven and Earth, and He created us.  I think that because we're human, we think incredibly highly of ourselves when we shouldn't. From the moment we were born, we were born twisted, into sin.  We take for granted our life, our breath, our blessings, and we take for granted the One who gave us that breath, that life, those blessings.
We came from dust, but we think the world revolves around us. We get MAD at God when bad things happen, and we never look at the good that comes out of those things. We never take time to thank God for the wondrous things He's created.
Think of all the blessings in your life right now, big or small: Your home, your car, your toilet, your CD player, your phone, your books, your TV, your friends, your family, blankets and pillows at n…

Proverbs 19:21"You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail."
This verse made me think of a day, when, if I remember correctly, someone had asked if God's plan was like "destiny," or "fate." And you just can't escape it.
In a way, I think that God's purpose is sort of similar to destiny, but it's different.
God's purpose isn't like destiny in the way that it's your future and it is there and no matter what you do, you can't change what's going to happen.
God's purpose is more like... He knows what you're going to do, before you even do it.  He has a plan for you, and you can't change that plan, that's true, but GOD can change that plan if He feels like it.
You can't make your own plan, or decide that you're in charge of where your life goes, because God is in control. He's the pilot of this crazy airplane called life, and He knows what you're goin…

1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity."

People often think that they are incapable of making a difference. Whether it's because of how they view themselves, or things people have said about them, they think they're incapable to doing big things that God has set in their hearts.
I have felt many times that I am too shy to be a leader, a pastor, a missionary. Too small. Not smart enough. But God says we are to be an example to our peers and everyone around us! And I've learned that I can be a missionary in my own backyard. It doesn't take much at all!
All the thoughts I have had about how I can't talk to people about my faith are gone. Disappeared.
I am not ashamed of my faith, so I choose to show it, with my Facebook posts, with my devotions, with how I talk to people.
YOU can be a leader. Y…

Ephesians 6:10"A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power."

It's hard to be strong. Sometimes, that's one of the most difficult things to do~ be strong.
When it seems like everything is crashing down around you, and nothing's looking up.
A fight with a friend, a bad grade on a test, a family member who is ill and not doing well.
Worry, fear, anxiety, stress... Things just keep piling on top of each other...
And you feel weak. You feel the opposite of strong. Words don't seem to help. Nothing helps. You beat yourself up inside and you feel the tears fall. You think, "No one could possibly understand my pain right now..."
But in the midst of all the darkness and pain, You can find a light, Because Paul writes in Ephesians to
"Be strong in the Lord and in HIS power," Not YOURS! You are not alone, because the Lord is there when no one else is, And the Lord has seen your struggles and felt your pain.

So be strong

Exodus 20:13 "You shall not murder."

Well that's pretty self-explanatory!
Straight forward!
Simple. Just don't KILL anyone.
I got that one down. In the bag! Well.. sorry to burst your bubble, but God isn't just referring to going out and killing people. It's WAY more than that. In Matthew 5:22, God says that "anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment." That verse goes even further saying, "And anyone who says, 'You fool!' Will be in danger of the fire of Hell." Now that's more of something you need to worry about, huh?
There is a way deeper meaning to this commandment. Thinking something mean or cruel about someone, judging someone where it isn't your place to judge, is equivalent to murder. And we need to understand that. Our words, our actions, and even our thoughts, have HUGE consequences based on how we choose to use them. Challenge/ New Years Resolution: Really start thinking about how much mu…

Peace~ Freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility.

Psalm 23:1-3"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.  He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake."
This passage is very well-known (Psalms 23).  I love this passage so much because it's all about the peace that God gives us.
The last couple of months, I have felt God in ways I haven't felt before in my lifetime. From Ignition in December, to starting my devotionals on January 2, to now, I have felt Him moving in me.
And while that excites me and fills me with energy and fire, I also have an overwhelming sense of peace.
Having a relationship with God has changed my whole life.  I am in awe of God. If I were to be by myself by the ocean, or walking through a forest, with nothing but myself and God, I would be at peace. No worries, no struggles, just me and God, walking together.
These devo…

Romans 8:28"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?  That's what a lot of people ask. I've had friends who have asked me this before, and it's hard to explain. In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.
"Well," you may say, "I don't see God working when those who love Him get hurt. Explain that. If God is so good, why do these things happen?"
Have you heard about a man in the Bible named Job? God allowed Satan to do anything he wanted to Job, so long as he doesn't kill him.  Job responded to that by saying in Job 13:15, "Though he slay me, …

Hello and welcome to my blog, where every night I'll post a devotional focusing on a specific verse each night. I've been doing this for over a month now, and I pour my heart into each of them.  I pray that God uses this to touch people's hearts.
Romans 8:26 "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes or us through wordless groans."
Prayer is difficult.  There are a lot of times when I have no idea what to even say to God.  I'm so in awe of Him that sometimes I am struck with no words to say when I talk to Him.  Other times, I'm so upset I cannot speak.  And other times, just so overwhelmed by things going on in my life that I don't know where to start.
But God is amazing.  He knows exactly what we're going to say before it is said, and He knows our hearts.
Even if we can't express verbally what our wants, needs or praises are, the Spirit i…
