March 30, 2017 Hebrews 6:10 "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." Like I said in a devotional not too long ago, what you do to others is what you're doing to God. Do good to others, and you are doing good to God. Mistreat others, and you are mistreating Him. You know the saying, "Treat others the way you want to be treated"?  Well, keep that in mind, but also think about this, "Treat others the way you would treat God." Your perspective might change a little at that point, because if you think just about what Jesus would do for people, and you think about the difference you could make if you were kinder and more loving to people, then you might be more willing to do it, right? Plus, as it says in this verse, God does not forget what you do. He won't forget. And when we all get to Heaven and we're standing in fron

March 27, 2017 Esther 4:14 "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" This is the next day in my Beauty Marks reading plan, and it goes for men just as much as women. How often do we procrastinate? Me... A lot. It's okay, you can admit it too. How often do we say, "No it's okay, I'll stay over here, where I'm safe and comfortable, and someone else will take care of it instead of me?" Do we always trust God in the situations that seem impossible? No, probably not. Oh we of little faith. We really need to stop that. Have faith and go for it, trust God and see what happens. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is GO FOR IT.  TRUST HIM. Go out of your comfort zone. Just do what God says to do, because He chose you fo

March 26, 2017 Song of Songs 4:7 "You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you." I struggle with seeing myself as beautiful. I've started another reading plan called Beauty Marks, and it's mostly for the gals (even though you boys are beautiful too), so listen. You are beautiful, With your scars, Your bruises, Your tears, Your stretch marks. Tall, short, skinny, large, Brown hair, blonde hair, blue hair, pink, Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, hazel, There is no flaw in you. As Veggietales says, Remember: God made you special, and He loves you very much.

March 25, 2017

So, tonight is more of a journal entry/recap than a devotional, so bear with me. I just wanted to say that I am sorry for missing the last few nights of devotionals... I missed them because of homework and because of the Sadie Hawkins dance last night! So, I had a math assessment on Thursday, and I got a 96% out of 100%, so I'm super happy about that! I was very worried about it, so I'm so happy and thankful that God pulled me through that, because tests are very nerve wracking and often scary for me. Anyone else? The Sadie Hawkins dance was last night, and it was 90s themed, and it was a BLAST! I'll put a couple photos on here for you guys to see. It was so fun. I'm currently sore all over from partying too hard. I partied way too hard at the beginning so in the last hour, I was falling asleep at my table!  But it was so amazing. I love high school and the memories I've made so far. Today, I went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom with my family to get our se

Galatians‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” Today was very good! I asked Kristian to the Sadie Hawkins dance after school today with In-N-Out (his favorite fast food place ever!) and he said yes!! ☺️ Do you ever get little nudges inside? You know, the ones when you see someone or something and suddenly, you just have this weird feeling like you have to go over there and say something, or do something about whatever the situation is? That's God! Do you follow that nudge? Or say, "No.. someone else will take care of it." Or, "It will be okay. I wont step in cause it won't matter if I do or don't." Let me just tell you that it does matter. Because if you have a nudge to do something right, something you feel in your heart you should do, then you should do it, because that is GOD knocking on your heart to go make a difference! You say

March 21, 2017 Matthew 25:45 "And he will answer, 'I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me." I think this verse is powerful. Let me explain... So, how often do you go out of your way to help a homeless man or woman on the street; get them a meal or some change, a blanket? Probably not often, huh? Sometimes, do you even refuse, just because you don't want to go near them? Or what about at school, when you see a lonely kid hanging out by themselves with no one to talk to. Do you go and talk to them and befriend them, or do you stay with your group of friends and refuse to go help the kid? Think about this: what if that homeless man or that lonely kid were Jesus? Would you help him then? God says that when you choose to love on the least of these, when you choose to help them and put their needs in front of whatever you're currently worried about, and you sh

March 20, 2017 Matthew 6:34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." Happy Birthday, McKennah!! Happy first day of Spring! I am a HUGE worry wart. I'm sure I've said this before, but no harm in repeating it, because it's true. I'm always worrying about tomorrow- what's going to happen? Who's picking me up? What all is due tomorrow? Do I have tests? Am I prepared?? Will tomorrow be a good day? Or a BAD day? Stop worrying. Get it together! My mom always says,  "One day at a time." She's super smart. And it's not just her who came up with that, because that is exactly what God is saying in Matthew 6:34- don't worry about tomorrow yet. It will come. One step at a time- I'm here. God will never give you too much to handle. But what's important is that you handle it with Him. One day at a time. <3

March 19, 2017 Proverbs 27:6 "Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy." Lately, I've been thinking a lot about my friends: who they are and how much they mean to me.  The true friends: the ones who will keep my secrets safe, the ones who respect me and love me and care for me, they ones who will keep me accountable for things, the ones who are always there, And the ones who aren't. Sometimes it's hard to know for sure and for certain who the true friends are. But the ones who are true are precious and special. They mean the world. And I don't know about you, but I appreciate when my friends call me out and give me constructive criticism, and keep me accountable; it makes me a better person. I don't appreciate the people who use me, and flatter me for their own personal gain. I have personal experience with bullying, and with people who make it seem like they are my friend, but do things to m

March 18, 2017 Proverbs 12:15 "Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others." We want to succeed in this life, right? We want to be smart, and prosperous, and live long on this earth, and have a good life, right? Then why are we so foolish? Conceited? Deceitful? Hateful? It's so sad, how we refuse to listen to others, and refuse advice, because we already think we know everything. We don't LISTEN. New Years Resolution: Be open. Listen. Be wise.

March 16, 2017 James 1:26 "If you claim to be religious but don't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless." Words are SO POWERFUL! If you didn't know that at this point, then HERE YOU GO. Words can hurt or heal, and you have A CHOICE, as to what comes out of your mouth everyday. You have a choice right before you speak, to HURT someone with your words, or to BUILD THEM UP. It's really important to think about the impact of what you're going to say, because words can be swords. I know, I know, "I've heard that SO MANY TIMES.. Think before you speak." Blah blah blah, right? It's crucial though, if you really are a follower of Christ, and you're living for Him. He makes clear in this verse that your religion means NOTHING if you don't control your tongue. Nothing. So seriously, start thinking before you speak. That's my challenge today and tomorrow and this

March 15, 2017 Colossians 4:6 "Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone." The challenge: Be kind. Criticize less. Choose sweeter words. Think before you speak. I know I'm not the only one who has trouble sometimes with thinking before I speak, and with being kind. I know I'm not the only one who struggles in saying kind things in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. I know I'm not the only one who struggles to say the right things when people need it. It's hard, especially when I'm tired... Anyone else? It's especially hard in the mornings mostly for me to be kind, because people press my buttons more at that time than any other time of the day it seems. I just want peace and quiet in the mornings. Let me wake up fully, ya know? And when my parents read this I'm sure they'll say, "Mhm, yeah, she sure does need to work on that."

March 14, 2017- PI Day!

March 14, 2017 Romans 8:38-39 "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow- not even the powers of Hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below- indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." I read a plan from Youversion tonight about blessings from the Lord, and listened to a prayer. The blessing it talked about today was God's love, and I felt like writing about it, because it's so awesome. God's love for us is never ending.  Think about that. It literally goes on forever and ever, like God. No matter what on earth we do, He still has His arm reached out to us, waiting to pull us back.  I heard a song on the radio (KLOVE), it comes on every once in a while, and one of the lines f

March 13, 2017 Psalms 34:1 "I will praise the Lord at all times, I will constantly speak His praises." I have decided to go on a ten day WORD FAST. I have never done something like this before, but I felt the Lord tugging at my heart to try. I'm eager to see how it will turn out, so I'm using the YouVersion Bible App's Reading Plan for this ten day fast. Ten days. Fasting from certain words. Words can either heal or hurt, and I want to heal. My challenge for tomorrow is to avoid complaining. To do things with a happy heart, and for God; because the Lord knows I struggle with complaining. Anyone care to join me in this fast?

March 12, 2017

March 12, 2017 1 John 4:15 "All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God." I think the best part of being a Christian is the fact that God lives inside me. I am made stronger because of Him living inside of me.  I honestly don't understand why people choose to hate God and refuse His love, because He's so amazing. At Ignition this past Christmas, I learned that my testimony is unstoppable, and that is because of God. It's awesome, and that motivated me to talk more about my testimony, because no one can refuse that! Recently in my English class, we had to write a reflective essay, and I did mine all about my testimony! That is God living in me, and I in Him. Every time I walk outside and feel a spring time breeze, I feel God. I love feeling God. He's everywhere. He gives me peace. He helps me breathe. I love knowing that by me living for Christ, He is living in me, and I in Him.

March 11, 2017

March 11, 2017 Hey you guys!  I just wanted to recap about yesterday and today! I'm sorry I didn't write yesterday. It was because I went on an amazing trip with the Buckingham Vocal Ensemble.  We went and visited University of the Pacific, and took a tour, and watched the choir.  The University was beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous, and not huge, but not super small.  I loved every bit of it! I soaked in all the information about it that I could, and I felt super excited for college, going there. I felt at home! <3  After the college, we went and had a nice dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Sacramento, and then went and saw a broadway show called "The Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."  It was awfully funny, and I enjoyed it.  The night was so amazing, it lasted until literally midnight. Which is why I was unable to write on my blog. Today, it's also a late night, so I just felt that I would recap on yesterday, and then giv

March 9, 2017 Isaiah 26:4 "Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock." Tomorrow is our vocal trip and I am so stoked!  Tonight's devotional is just something simple.  I just wanted to share this verse with you as a reminder, once again, that God is there, and He loves you and is the Rock that we all should stand on. Pray for safe trips tomorrow and lots of fun with no complications! Send me prayer requests, you guys! I'm here to pray for you. I love you guys and I hope your day was great and I pray tomorrow will be a good day for you as well. God bless you! <3

March 8, 2017

March 8, 2017 Proverbs 15: 29 "The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayers of the righteous." This is a friendly reminder that God can hear all of your prayers. He HATES evil. He hates sin. He cannot be around it, for He is perfect. Righteous. Now, we are sinners. Evildoers, not righteous, scumbags.  But with Jesus standing by our side as our mediator, God sees us as perfect.  He sees His son in us, if we live by Him, and we serve Him and we live our lives fully devoted to Him. That in His eyes is righteous, and He hears us when we cry out. Every time we stub our toe on the corner of the table and cry out "OUCH!"  He hears. Every time we get frustrated at Him because of something that happened, and we yell. He hears. Every time we feel we just can't handle the weight, and we cry out for help. He hears. He is there, and I can't stress this enough.  So call out to Him more often. WAIT for a res

March 7, 2017

March 7, 2017 2 Thessalonians 3:5 "May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ." Today, this verse is my prayer. I pray that all of you allow God to work through you, and allow His plan to unfold. I pray that through God, you would feel an overwhelming peace and patience and strength, and that you would share that with everyone you know. I pray that you  know how much God loves you, because He loves you so much. I pray that these devotionals speak to you and that you feel God burning inside you. I pray that you would answer His call. I pray that you understand that you are a part of something so much bigger than you. This is my prayer for you. Amen.

March 6, 2017

March 6, 2017 Colossians 3:13 "Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others." March has only just begun and I already feel like it's all over the place- crazy! Let me just say that it just takes SO MUCH effort to forgive.  You know that moment as a kid when you did something stupid and have to apologize for what you did and you say "I'm sorry," but don't mean it at all? Or that moment when your sibling did something stupid to you and hurt your feelings, or a friend called you a mean name or said something mean to you and they said sorry, and you said "I forgive you," but didn't mean it in the slightest? Yeah, me too. And it still happens. I'm guilty of it.  And it's SO ANNOYING; I know at least for me it is annoying, because I KNOW God tells us to forgive... He died for us!!  But it is so hard when someone hurts you

March 5, 2017

March 5, 2017 Late Night Thoughts... So... It is after midnight currently, and I just finished my homework that is due tomorrow for school. I am extremely tired and worn out but I really had to write SOMETHING on my blog!! So, I'm thinking of all my blessings, because I have so many, and I am winding down, getting ready to sleep. 1. I am thankful for my family. They're crazy, but always there for me when I really need it. 2. I am thankful for my boyfriend, who is my best friend and is always there. 3. I am thankful for my friends. Before high school, I had some messy relationships.  Arguments, bullies. I felt alone in my faith. Then came high school, and I found my best friends. I am so incredibly thankful that I have them in my life. My crazy girls. They're always there to talk and hug and have fun. 4. I am thankful for my house, and everything I own. I know they're earthly treasures, but God gave them to me and I am grateful that I have more t

March 4, 2017 Romans 12:12 "Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying." I am SO sorry for not writing the last couple nights! Thursday was our multicultural concert and yesterday I felt like a zombie ALL DAY LONG. But I'm back, and today, I had the pleasure of attending Olivia Godinez's Quinceanera! <3 Anyway... I am lovin' today's verse. It's definitely one I want to remember and hold in my heart. There are lots of times when I struggle in rejoicing in hope, and being patient and praying. If there was one fruit of the spirit I'd need to work on most, it'd be patience. And I talk a lot of stuff. I tell people, "Hold on to hope. It's the thing you can always find in a hard time. Look for the light." But I'm not perfect. I struggle too... And it's hard. It is so hard to wait and have hope and faith in what God is doing.  You sit there and you look up at the ceilin

March 2, 2017 Philippians 3:14  "I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the Heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us." I'm trying really hard to reach the end of the race right now. It feels like it'll never end! And it's hard.. We are all running the race.  But are we running for God? Or are we running for man? Are we running for the heavenly prize that this verse talks about? Or for earthly treasures that are only temporary? For fortune, for fame? I know that I'm running for my creator. My God. My Heavenly Father. And until we get to Heaven, we are called to keep running for Him, even when we come to obstacles, trials and tribulations. Set your eyes on Him. Let Him be the main focus of your life. New Years Resolution: Focus on Him, and run the race set out for me with everything I am. Set my sights on God.

March 1, 2017

March 1, 2017 Hello, March 2017! Welcome!! Psalms 27:14 "Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord." It is SO HARD to be patient and wait. It's like when you want that last cookie in the cookie jar, and your mom tells you to wait till after dinner! First of all, NOT COOL, mom! Second, we as humans are impatient. We live in a world nowadays where we can have things at the click of a button on our phones, no waiting.  We're used to getting what we want, when we want it, how we want it. But when you're a follower of Christ, you are told to wait, and wait patiently. We ask God for things, and sometimes He answers with yes, no, or... Wait, I've got something BETTER for you. Just wait patiently. (Jeremiah 29:11- trust Him and wait. He's got a plan and it's going to be amazing.) So learn to wait, and listen to Him. Be patient and eager for God's plan, not yours.
